Scholarships
Several scholarships are available to students pursuing degrees in Science, Mathematics, and CSIS. A complete list of scholarships are available on the University scholarships webpage.
Computing in the Information Age Scholarship
Funded by the National Science Foundation. the purpose of the scholarship is to increase retention in the computing sciences by providing aid to high-achieving students with financial need, and involving them in scholarly activities with CSIS faculty.

Charles S. Wollmer Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Charles S. Wollmer Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to deserving full or part-time under graduate or graduate students in good academic standing who show academic promise. Preference is given to mathematics or science majors showing financial need.

The Wilkes/Burnett Black Alumni Society Scholarship
The Wilkes/Burnett Black Alumni Society Scholarship was established by Dr. Shelby Wilkes and his wife, Dr. Jettie Burnett to commemorate the founding of the Kennesaw State University Black Alumni Chapter. As the Society’s first president, Dr. Wilkes was motivated to see the Society directly involved in assisting students. This scholarship will recognize and support deserving KSU undergraduate students with an interest in the sciences and/or declared pre-med majors.
Criteria
- Enrolled full-time
- Undergraduates majoring in the sciences or declared pre-med major
- Recommended by the KSU Black Alumni Society

The Brittain Chemistry Scholarship
The Brittain Chemistry Scholarship was established by Drs. Hank and Cindy Brittain, former faculty members in the KSU College of Science and Mathematics. It recognizes full time undergraduate chemistry students who perform research with a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry.

Benefactor - Dr. Henri Brittain and Dr. Cindy Brittain
The Leon Combs Chemistry Scholarship
The Leon Combs Chemistry Scholarship was established by Dr. Leon Combs to support deserving students at Kennesaw State University . This scholarship will provide a minimum annual award at the beginning of each fall and spring semester to a deserving undergraduate student majoring in Chemistry.
Criteria
- Professional Chemistry Major in Junior or Senior year
- Minimum GPA of 3.3
- Completed CHEM 1211/L, 1212/L, 3361/L, 3362/L, and PHYS 2211 with at least a 3.3 GPA in those courses. These courses must have been taken at KSU. NOTE: AP credit for CHEM 1211 and/or CHEM 1212 is acceptable.
- Plan to attend graduate school
- Taken or registered for a research project with a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry or Biochemistry
- Excellent character/integrity as supported by at least one letter
- Letter of application required of the student with career goals specified and why he/she thinks that he/she is worthy of the scholarship
- Letter of support from two tenured or tenure-track faculty members testifying as to the student’s scholarship and character
- Currently enrolled at KSU at the time of consideration of the award (April 15 of the semester before the fall award)
Benefactor - Dr. Leon Combs
Girardot Endowed Scholarship Fund
Drs. Nadia and Jean-Marie Girardot established this endowed scholarship fund to recognize excellence in students in the arts and sciences who are in need of financial support. Recipients may be enrolled either full or part-time, and maintain a 3.25 overall GPA and a 3.5 in their major courses. The scholarship is available to junior, senior and graduate students. (Awarded alternate years between College of Science & Mathematics and College of Arts )

- Minimum GPA 3.25
- Minimum 3.5 GPA in major courses

The James and Shirley Castleberry Endowed Scholarship
The James and Shirley Castleberry Endowed Scholarship was established by Carl and Cindy Fleischer, two KSU alumni, in honor of Mrs. Fleischer’s parents. It recognizes full or part-time undergraduate students working toward a degree in the Colleges of Business, Education or Science & Mathematics. Students must be graduates of Cartersville High School , maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA and show financial need. (Awarded alternate years between Colleges)

- Graduating seniors of Cartersville High School

KSU Foundation Fellows
The KSU Foundation offers fellowships annually to outstanding graduate students at KSU. These fellowships will be awarded to the same student for a maximum of two consecutive years of their study toward a master’s degree, as long as the student is enrolled full time and maintains a minimum 3.0 GPA. These fellowships will be awarded by the merit-based scholarship selection committee in each of the colleges with graduate programs, currently the colleges of Business, Education, Health and Human Services, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Science and Mathematics.
Criteria
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Full time student
- Award available for two consecutive years
