Initiatives

The department is involved in a number of far-reaching initiatives. Current projects are described below.

Learning Communities
The CSIS Learning Communities allow students to meet and share classes with other students who have similar goals and interests. By taking classes together, students in each Learning Community experience a sense of unity and an enhanced learning experience. Please contact Dr. Hisham Haddad for more information.

Scholarship Colloquium
A monthly scholarship colloquium provides CSIS faculty with a forum for presentation and discussion of on-going research projects. Colleagues from other departments and colleges at Kennesaw State and guests from other institutions frequently present their research in the colloquia. Please contact Professor Victor Clincy for more information.

Computing in the Information Age Scholarship
Funded by the National Science Foundation, the Computing in the Information Age Scholarship provides selected CSIS majors with $1,500 per semester. The purpose of the scholarship is to increase retention in the computing sciences by providing aid to high-achieving students with financial need, and involving them in scholarly activities with CSIS faculty. Students belonging to groups that have been traditionally under-represented in the computing sciences are encouraged to apply.
